Monday - Saturday, 10am - noon

Note: Starting July 1, 2010, walk-ins are welcomed every Saturday until September, except August 7.

Private Tours 

If you are interested in a private tour, please send us an email.

A private tour with 4 or more people will be regularly priced, but a private tour with fewer than 4 people will be charged a minimum fee.

Last-Minute Tours 

Tour reservations must be made at least 5 days in advance. The price will be doubled for last-minute reservations (tour requests made on the day of or 1-4 days prior to the tour date). We require some time to find tour guides for the tour, so we cannot guarantee that we can accomodate a last-minute tour.

Cancellation 

Please cancel a reserved tour at least 48 hours in advance. During rainy seasons, we reserve the right to cancel. However, we will always call to see if individuals would still like to have a tour if the rain is light.

Prices 

  • Adult (18 or older): $18
  • 10 to 17 years old or Student with ID: $12
  • 6 to 9 years old: $5
  • 5 years old or younger: free

Payment 

We accept only cash or check. Tour guides do not carry cash, so please bring the exact amount of money you owe to the tour.

Location 

Tours start on the upper level of Portsmouth Square (near Washington and Kearny), across from the Hilton Hotel's bridge and near the elevators to the Portsmouth Square Garage. Your tour guides will be standing near the flagless flag pole. Look for tour guides with blue sweaters or gray Chinatown Alleyway Tours T-shirts.

Directions 

  • By BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit):

    Get off at Montgomery Street Station and walk toward Kearny and Clay Streets.
  • By Bus:

    Take the 8X, 8AX, or 8BX bus line going toward Chinatown; get off at Clay Street.
  • By Car:

    Parking is available in the surrounding neighborhood or at local garages such as the Portsmouth Square or St. Mary's garages.

We suggest public transportation, as parking can be difficult.
